To all Parents and Carers
The Summer term is passing by at a rapid rate and the exam season is well and truly upon us.
This term can be a stressful and extremely challenging time for students and I know you will provide them with the support that they will need over the coming months. They will certainly appreciate your encouragement – even if they don’t always show it.
For all our students, this is the time to be ‘disciplined’ in their approach to revision and make the ‘sacrifices’ now to achieve their goals. If students restrict the use of their mobile phones, tablets and game consoles, they will reap the rewards on results day. “Everyone wants happiness without the pain, but every rainbow needs a little rain!”.
The Summer term is also a season for our students to shine and show their talents. During my walks around both sites, I can see a real sense of urgency around school and our students are making sure that they take every opportunity in their lessons – their work ethic has been terrific. It’s also a time for all our students to deliver excellence, both in examination subjects and extra-curricular opportunities outside the classroom.
Our students never let us down and we look forward to celebrating their triumphs with them.
The ‘Night School’ initiative will remain in place where the London Road LRC will stay open until 8.00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. During the half term break, our Doddington Road site will be open to students on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.00am – 2.30pm. In addition many Wrenn staff have also committed their time to after school sessions for all key stage students.
I would like to give a warm welcome to Mr McGowan (Curriculum Leader for Science), Miss Smith (Teacher of English) and Mrs Bolton (Cover Supervisor) who joined us in April. They will make valuable contributions to our development over the oncoming years.
At the moment we do not have any further information regarding our re-brokering but we are looking forward to welcoming our new sponsors in the near future. This process will take some time and it is expected that nothing will happen before December 2017. However we will keep you updated on the progress of this. We will continue as usual and our first priority is to ensure our students continue to get every opportunity to achieve beyond their potential.
My final word goes to all students who are taking public exams over the next 6 weeks. This is the last 100m stretch of a race that started over 12 years ago. It’s time to run like Usain Bolt and give it everything you have got. You must not have any regrets, and as long as you have given it your very best, no one could ask for anymore.
Proud to be Wrenn
