The Business Studies Department is a diverse department and covers a wide range of subjects within KS4 and KS5.  Our results are consistently among the best in the school for all our subject areas based on added value.

We aim to relate what has been taught in the classroom to the world of work and enhance and build on learning which takes place in the core curriculum.  We try to develop decision making, problem solving and evaluative skills through the work we cover.  Our strengths are that the pupils should develop enquiring minds and the ability to approach problems in a structured and logical manner.  Pupils should be able to make decisions based on a sound foundation of knowledge of best practices and procedures.  They are taught to think and to question.

Subjects covered at Key Stage 4 include:

Double Awards in:

  • Business
  • Health and Social Care
  • Leisure and Tourism

which are equivalent to 2 GCSEs, and Single Awards in these subjects which are equivalent to 1 GCSE.
