Joining the Sixth Form
In order to join the sixth form at Wrenn, you will need to obtain certain qualifications to do so. During the Autumn Term we will complete our first trawl of Year 11 intentions in order to build a timetable based on the number of students wishing to study each subject. An application form will be sent to all year 11 students which needs to be filled in and returned if you wish to apply, stating why Wrenn Sixth Form is your chosen destination. In the Spring Term we will then conduct discussions with those wishing to join the sixth form. During this discussion, you will be asked about your intentions for the next 1-2 years and your long term ambitions. It is important that you are honest and open so that we can give you the best possible advice and guidance at this time.
During the remainder of the year, the Head of Sixth Form will monitor the progress of all students wishing to attend the Sixth Form to check you are on track to meet out entry requirements.
What if I am not currently at Wrenn Academy?
If you are interested in studying at Wrenn you will need to complete an application form by the end of April. Please contact Mrs Mayes (email@example.com) or ring her on 01933 221661. External students will be invited for a tour of the academy and a discussion with the Head of Sixth Form; this usually takes place in March.
Towards the end of June, we will invite you to join us for an induction. During these days you will have the opportunity to experience a range of lessons taught by our A level/BTEC teachers, participate in team-building activities alongside our current Year 12 students. We also organise a BBQ. These activities help to lay the foundations for the strong sense of community within our Sixth Form, one of the cornerstones of our success. Further details regarding these days will be distributed nearer the time.”
Students wishing to study A levels/level 3 BTECs at Wrenn must achieve at least 5 5-9*, or equivalent passes at GCSE. Depending on what A levels they choose, they may also have to achieve a specific minimum grade in a certain subject. Please see specific subject requirements.
